Entitled, KOMIKS: Katha at Guhit ni Francisco V. Coching, the exhibit featured blown-up digitized photographic images, original illustrations and professional and personal memorabilia of Cochings outstanding works.
A parallel exhibit highlighting the transformative bequest of komiks in a contemporary locale also run simultaneously at the Pasilyo Victor Edades (CCP Fourth Floor Hallway) featuring the works of Brenda Fajardo and Alfredo Juan Aquilizan.
A two-time National Artist Award short-listed candidate, Francisco Coching wrote and illustrated 56 komiks novels with 51 of them adapted into film. He was a popular komiks personality from the 1930s to the early 1970s who produced such unforgettable komiks characters as Hagibis, Barbaro, Pedro Penduko, Salabusab, Maldita and Talipandas, among others.
Also launched concurrently during the exhibit opening was a book-monograph of scholarly and popular essays, testimonials and photo folio of Cochings life and works written by scholars, critics and literary writers Patrick Flores, Alice Guillermo, Danilo Reyes, Jose Terence Ruiz, Gino Dormiendo and Elmer Beltran Ingles.
