Polo season was in high gear with the recent staging of the W. Cameron Forbes Cup at the East Field of the Manila Polo Club, dahlings. The afternoon started with the low goal match played by the Royal Blue Team of Anthony Filamor, Tony Garcia, Rosanna Yulo-Wray (the only femme in the game) and Tonio Veloso and the Red Team of Freddie Borromeo, Sonny Borromeo, Santi Elizalde and Anthony Villarosa.
Later, palanggas, the high goal match began with a salute to the players with Mike Malinowski of the US Embassy and Polo Club president Tony Garcia doing the ceremonial throw in. It was a tight game between the Blue Team of Bobby Aguirre, Iñigo Zobel, Lance Sheperd and Jun Juban and the White Team of Jose Constantino, Anthony Garcia, Fergus Gould and Vince Bitong. The Blues won the match, 8 to 5, and also the MVP award for Lance Sheperd and best pony for Bianca of Bobby Aguirre.
Yes, dahling, its another beauty pageant and its called Miss Philippines. So what else is new? Well, this one has a mission, palanggas: to help preserve and care for the environment. At the launch a fortnight ago at Stars, Ramon Monzon and Lorraine Schuck of Carousel Productions welcomed guests.
Though it is the new kid on the beauty pageant block, Miss Philippines offers the richest cash prize: a quarter of a million pesos aside from other non-cash prizes like a college scholarship in environmental studies. In a press presentation at the pageants official residence, the Hotel Intercontinental naturellement, 24 candidates from all over the country showed off their charm, wit and winning curves. Coronation night is on April 28, palanggas, so watch for it!
