MANILA, Philippines — Gold Fortune Textile (GFT) opened its latest textile store and showroom along Taytay's main highway.
Its recent launch redefines textile shopping after the urban municipality has suddenly become the haberdashery of choice for textile peddlers to fashion designers and RTW (ready-to-wear) manufacturers. What was once an exclusive domain of Divisoria has somehow moved over to this bustling industry in the province of Rizal.
"This flagship store and showroom is our new office and is strategically located along the main road, compared to our other stores that are all tucked away from the main thoroughfares. This is also a milestone for us — a fabric of success woven from dreams," GFT's chief executive officer Enrico Sy told Philstar.com.
"GFT began with my mom Jackie Co's RTW business in 1993 in Valenzuela. In 2018, we opened our first textile warehouse in Taytay. In 2022, we launched our mobile app, Textile Touch, as a one-stop shop and provider for all garment/textile needs. That year, we also launched the GFT Foundation, which is a project of my father, Eduardo Sy. It was created for social change in the communities of Taytay, especially on healthcare for the elderly," Enrico continued.
Textile specialist
Throughout its three decades of servicing the garments market, GFT has been known as a textile specialist that provides an assortment of textiles, accessories and machinery for garment production, especially for burgeoning micro-, small-, and medium-scale RTW businesses all over Metro Manila and portions of North Luzon.
"In order for our country to be strong, we need to be one. I took the reins from my father last year, after completing my studies in the United Kingdom. It's easier to complete a degree program abroad. They teach students how to be independent. All of the courses focus on modules on your chosen degree, and not on other things. This is a natural progression for me as I finished my high school in Singapore with a British curriculum."
With the app Textile Touch and their web site where enthusiasts and designers alike can browse through GFT's many offerings, textile shopping has now joined the e-market by making procurement convenient as consumers can call in their orders from wherever they may be.
"The GFT Philippines app is very mobile-friendly. We want to blaze a trail that others will follow," the 24-year-old CEO said.
"The Filipino-Chinese community has helped in making the boom in the garment and textile industry of Taytay. They have also done the same with the rest of the country. With these boom, it is easier now for Taytay to be remembered as the 'Garment Capital of the Philippines,'" said Taytay vice-mayor Pia Cabral in her message during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Golden Fortune Textile showroom is nicely tucked in the spacious Unit E of the New Ortigas Center along Highway 2000 at Sitio Malabon, Brgy. San Juan in Taytay, Rizal. Bulk buyers, tailors, seamstresses and entrepreneurs of SMEs (small and mid-size enterprises) who are into RTW production may get in touch with GFT's mobile app or through their web site, https://goldenfortunetextile.com, for their various needs and requirements.
