Mothercare tells fashion stories for kids

MANILA, Philippines - Mothercare launches its new value clothing range with products to suit babies and children aged 0 to 8 years, using colors and styles of the season and designed with specialist care and soft materials. Mothercare’s variety of fashion items are priced P249 up.

Each clothing line has a story.

For girlswear, Kimono Rose uses colors inspired by bright vegetable dyes, ranging from indigo to red. Pared back clean utility styling is juxtaposed with refined oriental vintage. Contemporary Japanese work wear also influenced the look using oriental floral and industrial typeface graphic prints. Origami pleats, simple two-color graphics and crochet flower detailing are the key features of the range.

Literary Eccentrics is all about cherished pieces that are well-loved and looked after. It marks the return of true craftsmanship. Graphics are collegiate and library-inspired, using a beautiful palette of weathered browns offset with ochre yellow. Styling is inspired by antique floral tea dresses with handmade rosettes, vintage toys, antique fonts and typography. Highlights of the story include beautiful broidery blouses, delicate prints on cotton dobby and vintage lace.

Vintage and a little bit preppy with a modern twist, Vintage Varsity is made up of easy-to-wear shapes and must-have wardrobe essentials. The palette is traditional with black, grey and red, made modern with highlights of silver and mustard. Printed checks and liberty-inspired florals are the key graphics, mixed with quirky characters to keep the look playful. The embroidered spot dress, party sequin tees and Lurex bow knitted dress are highlights of this story.

For boyswear, Preppy Skate has a new take on preppy styling, bringing in traditional tweed blazers and rugby tees with new detailing. The garments in the story also embrace new ways of panelling and color blocking paired back with simple stripes. This rich color palette is grounded with muted tones and the graphics are all inspired by skateboarding.

Vintage Rally has a very authentic feel. Influences can be seen in the use of cord patching, cable knits and simple stripes. Twisted yarn and knitwear are key ingredients in this story. The garment shapes are very much traditional and the graphics contain vintage car and toy imagery.
