MANILA, Philippines - How does one teach a child the value of sharing?

A brand that was founded on the premise of giving, Toms ensures that the value of sharing continues to live on by continuing to engage the youth towards the One for One movement.

The concept behind Toms is simple — with every pair of Toms shoes purchased, the company gives a new pair to a child in need — one for one. And in their effort to spread the company’s giving culture to people across all ages, Toms held a Style Your Sole event that hoped to teach kids the value of giving. Using art and shoes as its platform for the movement, the event was a great way to demonstrate social awareness, especially for children.

“We’re doing this with the vision of making kids realize that the simple act of giving can make a big difference in other people’s lives,” shares Therese La’O of the Toms family. “That it can mean the difference between a brighter future for the recipients and their community.”

Toms Kids for Kids allowed children to tap their inner artist and style their own Youth or Tiny Toms shoes under the supervision of Creative Kids—an art school that aims to bring out the creative side of every child.

Toms has already started giving out shoes to 16 communities in the Philippines. “The Give Fair is Toms’ way of thanking everyone who has supported and continues to support the One for One movement,” adds La’ O. “These people made a difference in other people’s lives by purchasing products from Toms and we feel that it’s only appropriate that we did something to show them how much we appreciate all their help.”

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in  Argentina  and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created Toms Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of shoes given to a child in need. To date, Toms has given over two million pairs of new shoes to children through giving partners around the world. Toms is available at Swim and all Nothing But H20 outlets in Alabang Town Center (850-7861), Boracay (036-2885938), Davao (894-0278), Galleria (635-3588), TriNoma (915-0014), Jump branches at BHS (856-5749), Eastwood (706-5159), Shoe Salon branches at TriNoma (916-6852), Glorietta (894-3567), Mall of Asia (556-0155), SWIM branches at Rockwell (896-0950), Adora (687-4809), Cebu branches at Ayala Center (6332.231-5641 / 42), Chocolate Clothing (032-232-5809), and Davao at Chimes Specialty (082-225-8997).
