An even hotter summer with Speedo
MANILA, Philippines - Speedo recently introduced its latest collections — Competitive, Swim Fitness, Play and Fun, and Health and Well-being — in a show held at the Bonifacio High Street fronting the brand’s flagship store. The summer skies became the backdrop of cutting-edge technology and heritage drawn from over 80 years of swimwear expertise.
Speedo’s design direction is underpinned by a confidence that resonates throughout all elements of the range through color, graphics and applications. The collections are built on a palette of colors including lobster, a fiery, inspiring and distinctive red; iron gray, a strong yet form-enhancing color; and a pink hue, a violet shade that echoes of romance, sophistication and nostalgia. The theme “discovery” is the graphic influence that runs across the entire collection with two distinct applications — discovering the future and rediscovering the past.
Speedo summer officially kicked off on the runway with the Play and Fun collection. For women, the collection includes the swim dress, which is a statement piece for every summer wardrobe and a new addition to the brand’s spring-summer range. The piece boasts a feminine dressy silhouette that comes with a boyleg short, providing a flattering and modest look. Available in bright pink with graphic panels, the swim dress is a fun alternative to the bikini. The tankini and bikini from the same collection are highlighted by vintage prints in bright summer hues.
For men, Speedo has created an exclusive range of retro-inspired water shorts that combine modern construction with a remixed classic design from the ‘90s. The collection is defined by a selection of unique prints and retro branding for those who want to look good and stand out, whether on the beach or at the bar.
The Swim Fitness collection provides the perfect range of swimwear for those who keep fit through swimming. Functional and sporty, the range is available in a variety of colors, and features essential sport silhouettes. Some key products in the range include the women’s Superiority Muscleback suit and the Aquashort for men. Designs and colors for this range carry a futuristic feel with graphics inspired by scientific highlights and shadows.
For those who like to relax in and around the water, Speedo has created a range of stylish and practical Health and Well-being swimwear. The range features one-piece swimsuits, tankinis and aquashorts in a variety of colors with sporty but softer seasonal color options. The female line offers the perfect fit, thanks to bust support and adjustable straps. Designed to offer security and comfort during water-based exercises, the Aqua Active suits replicate the function of a sports bra in land-based exercise.
Donned by the most passionate athletes in the country, Speedo introduced its Competitive collection. The line that highlights the phenomenal LZR Racer suit, which is available in three technologies to suit the standard at which the wearer competes — elite, pro and competitive. The range also includes the Aqua Bullet bonded jammer, which features the precision and style of the LZR Racer suit, and brings the luxury and comfort of a bonded product. Additional suits in the range feature prints and splices that are constructed from Speedo’s Endurance+ fabric, which is chlorine- and snag-resistant, and designed to last longer.
The launch featured prominent athletes and the country’s strongest swimmers, Philippine National Team member Women’s 100m butterfly record holder Jasmine Alkhaldi, Philippine Men’s 200m freestyle record holder Jessie Khing Lacuna, multi-time national medallists Jose Joaquin Gonzales and Banjo Borja, as well as Speedo-sponsored athlete and 2010 ASEAN University Games 50m freestyle record holder Kendrick Uy.
