Victorinox ceramic knives: Sharpness that lasts a lifetime

-

MANILA, Philippines - There are many types of knives on the market that promise sterling performance.

The latest type is the ceramic knife, which is fast gaining popularity for its razor sharp edge and resistance to wearing.

Victorinox, the world-renowned maker of the famous Swiss Army Knives, recently added a whole new line of ceramic knives to their series of high-quality kitchen knives.

The blade of the Victorinox ceramic knives is extremely hard – almost as hard as diamond. That’s because it is manufactured from high-purity zirconium oxide powder that is compressed at very high pressures and heated in a furnace at temperatures over 1500°C.

The Victorinox ceramic knives have superior edge retention, which means the blade will maintain its sharpness over a very long period and has an impressively high cutting quality. Its smooth, non-porous surface is resistant to stains, odors and wear and tear caused by acidic materials such as lemon juice. Unlike regular steel blades, ceramic will not affect the flavor of food. It is insensitive to acids.

Equipped with its signature Fibrox handle, the Victorinox ceramic knives are also lightweight. It makes slicing potatoes into paper-thin portions a cinch. It will cut through thick slabs of meat like butter or fillet delicate fish perfectly. Sweat no more when chopping and slicing firm fruits and vegetables such as squash, taro or watermelon.

However, ceramic is not shock-resistant so it is a must not to let the knife fall onto hard surfaces. It is also unsuitable for hitting or cutting through bones and frozen food.

The cutting edge blade of Victorinox ceramic knives is manufactured under strict quality control using Japanese technology. Its polished white surface provides an elegant contrast to its Swiss-made ebony handles.

Victorinox offers three sizes of ceramic knives: the 12-cm. paring knife, the 15-cm. carving knife and the 17-cm. Santoku knife (a well-balanced, all purpose knife that originated in Japan). Each comes in a classy giftable box which makes them a perfect present for weddings, house warming parties or simply buying a treat for one’s self.

The Victorinox ceramic knives are exclusively available at Kitchen Pro, fourth floor, Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Exclusively distributed by Star Paper Corporation.
