Cinderella salutes 3 stylish women
MANILA, Philippines - Cinderella Marketing Corporation, a pioneer in the clothing retail industry, pays tribute to three stylish women that represent empowered Filipina moms: Taguig First Lady Kaye Tinga, Dr. Aivee Teo of Skin and Laser Clinic, and chef Heny Sison.
Cinderella and its brands, both local and imported (British India, Esprit, Esprit de Corps, C-Women, Seventeen, etc.), have empowered every Filipina by providing pieces that are not just stylish to the eyes but also sensible for their pockets.
Kaye Tinga: Community Advocate
Kaye Tinga, wife of Taguig City Mayor Freddie Tinga, has been an advocate of the environment, education, livelihood and human welfare specifically for children and women, even before her husband’s political reign.
A mother of four kids, a supportive wife, and a community advocate, Kaye Tinga is a self-confessed shopaholic. If shopping were a sport, Kaye would be a real good player as she actually bargains well. She shops not just for herself but for her entire family, even for her teens, as well.
“I still shop for all our children’s clothes including my two older girls who are 14 and 12. My eldest, Kylie, is not very fashion-conscious and will wear anything I give her; our second daughter, Kerry, has stronger opinions. However, when her friends once slept over and loved the clothes I got her, she started allowing me to help her with her fashion choices. For my boys Kody and Kristian, 7 and 2, respectively, I select all their clothing. I am sure in a couple of years or probably less, my daughters will want to choose their own clothes.”
Kaye is very passionate about being a mother. “My best achievement as a mother is raising four happy, confident, and loving children. In our family, disciplining is about teaching and not about punishment: teaching them respect, proper behavior and differentiating right from wrong. We reward them for good behavior with praise and by allowing them treats such as an extra half hour of computer time; the opposite would be withholding TV privileges during the weekend or such.”
Dr. Aivee Teo: Goddess of Aesthetic Treatments
Renowned dermatologist and owner of the luxurious The Skin and Laser Clinic, Dr. Aivee Teo is the answered prayer of many Filipinas wishing for skin enhancement. She does Botox procedures, hair-loss treatment, acne care, acne scar treatment and the like.
Little do we know though, as Dr. Aivee puts it, that dermatology is not just about beautifying. It also entails healing people with skin diseases.
Aside from being a doctor, Dr. Aivee is also a beloved wife of a Singaporean aesthetic surgeon and a loving mom to Ken-Z. “My best achievement as a mother is being able to teach my son all the good values that will make him a good person.”
Dr. Aivee says she is a cool but still disciplinarian mom. “I explain to him the consequences of his behavior so he understands and he does not do it again.”
Dr. Aivee collects all sorts of fashion magazines. So, when asked if motherhood coincides with her fashion taste, she replies, “I think all parents have a say in their children’s’ clothes but eventually they find their own style. I let Ken-Z decide as early as now. It’s good for them to be able to choose their own clothes.”
Heny Sison: Queen of the Culinary Arts
Who would have thought that the famous chef Heny Sison used to be in the fields of finance and economics? One of Philippines’ finest, chef Heny, who currently hosts a cooking show on TV, was an economic researcher and finance analyst before she entered the delightful world of cooking and baking where her true passion is. In fact, she founded a culinary and cake design school in order to share her gastronomic skills and knowledge.
Kitchen aside, chef Heny is even more passionate about her kids. Blessed with two lovely daughters, Carmella and Denise, she makes sure she finds time for her family.
“Would you believe I hardly cook in the house? I only cook when we have guests or as requested by my husband. When the kids were small, I used to cook a lot but now that they have their own diet preferences, I hardly cook for them. Back then they would watch me do my cooking classes, so now they prepare their own food because they are very picky eaters.”
Besides cooking and eating, chef Heny’s bonding moments with her two girls include “shopping, which is our favorite bonding moment together. When we’re abroad, we can spend the whole day in a shopping mall hunting for the best bargains. Although I do love shopping for clothes, my taste is limited to classic cuts and clean lines. I am not one for frills and frou-frou. I lean more towards comfort and function like British India, which is always soft and comfy. Their line of clothes never seems to go out of style. It’s just right up my alley.”
Asked what qualities of her that her daughters possess, Heny says, “Carmela is a shopaholic like me; Denise shares with me her passion for baking and cooking and loves tinkering in the kitchen for hours.”
