MANILA, Philippines - Shakey’s has been at the forefront of promoting volleyball in the past seven years through the Shakey’s V-League. This summer, it is spearheading “The Shakey’s V-League Summer Camp Year 2: Spike Madness,” a volleyball affinity tour and formal summer training program that is going around SM Supermalls.
In the past two weeks, the “camp” has gone to SM North EDSA, SM Bacolod and SM Baguio. On April 5 to 9, it will be held at SM Megamall where there will be a formal training camp for beginners and advance volleyball female players.
“Shakey’s is committed to volleyball,” says Coochy Mamaclay, brand manager of Shakey’s. “In partnership with SM Supermalls, Gerflor Taraflex, Monster Radio RX93, U92FM, The Lifestyle Network, Uno magazine, Circuit and Crush Communications Inc., we organized this event for girls 9 to 14 years old who would like to learn more about volleyball.”
Shakey’s V-League superstars like Suzanne Roces, Laurence Ann Latigay, Sasa Devanadera, Michelle Carolino, Gretchen Ho and Jinni Mondejar have been giving training sessions to mall-goers and are inspiring young “volleybelles.” The camp is headed by veteran volleyball coach Roger Gorayeb.
The camp focuses on volleyball basic skills like spiking, receiving, blocking, and even stretching. Mall-goers will be treated to special volleyball exhibition games. The North Edsa, Baguio, and Bacolod legs were open to the public and is also open to Shakey’s V-League Summer Camp Year 2 registrants with a minimum registration fee of P500 inclusive of a Summer Camp Year 2 T-shirt, and a three-day basic training program.
The April 5 to 9 leg in Megamall is exclusively for Shakey’s V-League summer camp registrants. Registration is P1,500 and includes a five-day training sessions, special edition-premium items like summer camp volley shirt, tote bag, sports bottle, hand towel and meals good for the five-day training period.
