The incarnations of an 80-year old bag
MANILA, Philippines - Louis Vuitton goes in a retrospective mood as it celebrates the Speedy, the most iconic of its bags shapes. This smaller version of the legendary Keepall travel bag was launched in 1930 as the first Louis Vuitton city bag for travel. Since then, this timeless shape has kept its modern sensibility.
The Speedy was quickly adopted as a must-have by stylish women, who recognized the advantages of its chic yet simple shape. In the 1960’s a new size was created specially for Audrey Hepburn, the Speedy 25. Its original name, “Express” was changed to “Speedy”, a reference to the development of modern means of transportation and to an always faster way of living.
The various incarnations of the Speedy are currently on exhibit at the Louis Vuitton Greenbelt 4 store in Makati until March 28. The limited edition Speedy 35 Miroir will also be available for purchase exclusively during the exhibition period.
