Celebrities, netizens call for justice following dog killings
Trigger warning
MANILA, Philippines — Hundreds of Filipinos are calling for justice to be handed down following the wrongful deaths of two dogs named Killua and Erika.
The hashtags #JusticeForKillua and #JusticeForErika trended on social media after their owners and media outlets reported their deaths.
Killua's lifeless body was found in a sack in Camarines Sur, and camera footage shows a man chasing and beating the dog. Meanwhile, media outlets reported that Erika was stabbed and killed by a Korean national in Malate.
Filipino celebrities and netizens took to the internet to express a call for justice and hold the dogs' killers accountable.
Actress Janella Salvador, a known pet lover, said on X (formerly Twitter), "People don’t deserve animals. Ang sakit sakit sa puso. These psychos better end up in jail."

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo called the news heartbreaking and the dogs were defenseless, "Every life deserves respect and protection. It's time to demand accountability and raise our voices against animal cruelty. Let's unite in being the voice for the voiceless."
Multiple dog owner and host Kim Atienza pointed out that golden retrievers, Killua's breed, countered comments by the dog's alleged killer.
"Golden retrievers are the safest dogs to be with kids. You broke the law, you will go to jail sir," Kim said on X.
Another actress, Andrea Brillantes, reposted on her Instagram stories posts of calling for justice over Killua's death.

This news is extremely heartbreaking. Walang kalaban-laban 'yung aso. Katulad nating mga tao, nakakaramdam din sila ng takot at sakit. Every life deserves respect and protection. It's time to demand accountability and raise our voices against animal cruelty.

They have someone who will mourn their loss. They are loved.
They have the right to live!!!
You don't need to be a dog lover or pet lover in general to understand this.#JusticeForErika#JusticeForKillua#StopAnimalCruelty pic.twitter.com/ladpWe9SkH

No amount of imprisonment can ever be enough to make up for Killua’s life. To you, it could have been just a dog. But to its owner, it was her child, her life. #JusticeForKillua
