Pet Express hosts doggie pawlympics

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pet Express recently held its first Doggie Pawlympics at SM Mall of Asia Bay area. ----Dog lovers of all ages registered their prized pets to join the Dock Diving and Dog Agility competitions.

Organized by Pet Express, the specialty store for your dog and cat needs, the competition began at the Dock Diving area for the Dock Diving competition.

Dock Diving or dock jumping is a sport wherein dogs compete by jumping for distance or height from a dock into a body of water or a pool. The dock is usually 35 to 40 feet (11 to 12 meters) long by 8 feet (2.4-meters) wide and 2 feet (0.6 meters) above the water surface, while a 4 feet (1.2 meters) pool is recommended. It should be covered in artificial turf or a rubber mat for the pets’ safety and better traction. Chardy Ang’s dog Yuri won the competition.

The Teacup Dog Agility Competition, on the other hand, is comprised of two levels: pre-beginners, and beginners — 12 inches and below and 16 inches and below.

The Philippine Dog Agility Association with its pioneer trainer Jojo Isorena welcomed all the dog sport lover and other dog enthusiasts to try and engage their dogs to try out their agility skill. He encouraged pet parents to have their dogs try different dog sport and train them.

The Pet Express Doggie Pawlympics was held in partnership with Team Kovu, the Philippine Dog Agility Association and Kibbles ‘n’ Bits.
