French Bulldog Pancho on the secret life of Erwan Heussaff

Food blogger and entrepreneur Erwan Heussaff literally has his plate full these days. Between maintaining his hit blog, TheFatKidInside.com and coming up with new events for Manila Pop Up, he’s also the consultant on new restaurant and bar concepts such as the Hungry Hound, Niner Ichi Nana and Hatch 22.

Young, handsome and food savvy with an amazing balance of healthy and indulgent recipes, this guy may just be our local answer to Jamie Oliver but with a little more edge. Growing up with a dog named Spike, who when he was younger passed away from cancer — he never really wanted another pet. But as the years passed, he told himself that when the time was right, he would like to get a French Bulldog.

“Pancho was years of patience,” he explains. “Just waiting for the right French Bulldog to be born. When I saw his picture, I knew he was the one I was looking for and I couldn’t wait to give him a home.”

The adorable little Pancho, at only three months old, is a hound bound for greatness, with an Instagram account @panchozefrenchie that already has 1,918 followers. Meet the photogenic pup star as he dishes about his cool life with his equally cool master.

PHILIPPINE STAR: Describe yourself in three words?

BULDOG PANCHO: Sleepy, energetic and hungry.

Describe your relationship with your human? What do you guys like to do together? He is always so busy! How do you get to spend some time with each other?

He comes to visit me when he has down time or during eating hours. We like to play on the flood and scratch each other. 

Name one time you got into major trouble and how you got out of it.

I’m still not properly potty-trained, to make up for it, I just open my eyes wide and hope he will buy into it.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I wake up, walk, bite things, sleep, eat, sleep, bite things, sleep, eat some more, walk, drink a lot of water and then call it a day.

What are your fave hobbies?

I’m into biting anything that shows resistance to be bitten. 

I can’t believe you have your own Instagram account... what a star! How do you keep things interesting? What’s your take on selfies?

Right now my human can only take pics of me while I’m sleeping, because all the other shots turn out blurry. I don’t like standing still. So he makes sure I’ve passed out before taking out his phone camera.

Name your fur buddies — anyone cool?

I’m trying to make Princess and Bella like me. It’s not really working.

You must be lucky! Your human is always surrounded by food, share a little about that. Do you get to have yummy treats? Have you stolen anything from the kitchen?

He is very strict with what I eat currently, making sure I only get the best, vitamin-filled, puppy food. I did hear that he wanted to get me onto an all-natural whole food diet, I cant wait!

Your fave food? And if you could have anything in the world, even “forbidden” stuff what would be your ultimate meal?

I seem to have a strong appreciation for the raw onions I pick up when Erwan is cooking.

Describe your dream vacation and where would it be?

A cozy bed and strong aircon.

What would be your ultimate happy moment?

When I get to play all day with different family members on Sundays.

1. He likes to sleep on the ground with me. 

2. He likes to sleep early whenever he can French exit from work. 

3. He makes me watch all these different random and B-class movies. 

4. He sings when nobody is listening and thinks he is a good beat boxer. He is actually quite terrible. 

5. He sneaks out in the mornings to get a run in before waking me up.
