Top schools battle for artistic supremacy in music video competition
MANILA, Philippines - Res|Toe|Run engages school teens in its first-ever “Music Kicks Feeture Film Competition,†an artistic challenge that breeds collaboration and participation among various academic communities. Designed for students with a huge appetite for shoes, crisp imagination and an undying memory of the glory days of MTV, the contest requires participants to incorporate their shoe sensibilities through stories of heartaches, celebrations, misunderstandings, pleasures, and failures – all in one compelling music video and as told only by one’s feet.
Nine artistic ambassadors from participating colleges and universities in the metro have been chosen to take on the main challenge to tell a compelling story through the feet. The participating schools are The University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, Southville International School and Colleges, Far Eastern University, Asia Pacific College, University of Santo Tomas, and Assumption College.
Using the official track provided by Res|Toe|Run, the participants will create a three to four minute video highlighting any of the following participating brands: DC, Fitflop, Kickers, Sanuk, Ellesse, Boxfresh, Native, Shulong, Quiksilver, Roxy, Columbia, Lotto, Keen, Free Fish, Salvatos, KruZin, PeopleSwalk, Swims, Bedroom Athletics, Marie Claire, Swyt, Seavees, Desigual, Sledgers, Boxfresh, Tretorn, Supra, Sorel, Salomon and Flipsters. These brands are part of the specialty boutique’s core shoe categories: RES (comfortable casual footwear line), TOE (toe-flaunting sandals and flip flops) and RUN (active and athletic-inspired shoes).
Ongoing until Sept. 27, students as well as faculty, friends, and family can help their alumni teams clinch the title by watching and voting for their video bets online through Res|Toe|Run’s Facebook Page.
Only one vote per Facebook account is allowed, but users can share their chosen video bets to increase their chances of being voted. Actual votes are also indicated in the application.
The top three most innovative entries that receive the most number of online votes will be awarded with these corresponding prizes: P100,000 (grand prize), P70,000 (second prize), and P50,000 (third prize). Both student-representatives and their schools are entitled to cash and gift certificate awards.
Announcement of the final cut will be on Oct. 5 at the TriNoma Mall Activity Center at 3 p.m. via a mini concert.
