Dogs and cats’ day out at Pet Express

MANILA, Philippines - Dog and cat lovers from all ages recently enjoyed shopping together with their furry friends at Pet Express Dog and Cat Expo at the SMX Convention Center.

Organized by Pet Express, the event not only featured great new ways to train and bond with your pet, but also supported a good cause. Proceeds from the Expo were to be donated to Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines, which will help save the Laguna Pitbulls in their sheltered house.

Many dog and cat enthusiasts not only had the chance to enjoy great discounts in shopping for their pets at the expo, but also joined in the fun games and photo booth activities with their favorite Alaskan Malamute dogs. In Headshots for CARA, they immortalized their dog and cat’s best paw prints, which were photographed, laid out and printed in affordable prices by Great Image Photography. Proceeds of this activity were for the benefit of CARA Welfare Philippines.

The Expo also focused on dog training and pack walk activities. Carl Michael de Leon, a renowned dog trainer and an active member of various dog sport training clubs, shared tips on how dogs can trained to walk with their masters, as well as some important basic obedience lessons. He also led the graduation for the first batch of graduates of the Pet Express Dog Training Course with Team Kovu.

One of the highlights of the event was the chance to meet Toffee, their favorite Alpo wonder dog and his trainer Chardy Ang. This Jack Russell Terrier is a second Hall of Famer on TV 5’s Talentadong Pinoy and a first placer for the first Philippine Dog Agility Association Championships — in the Advanced and Jumpers Agility categories. They entertained the audience with their unique dog tricks such as karate kick moves with falcon pose trick and one-foot stand tall trick.

The Dog and Cat Expo 2013 is a project of Pet Express with the support of their media partners Philippine STAR, Manila Bulletin, Animal Scene Magazine, and Good Housekeeping magazine and their major exhibitors Alpo, Royal Canin, Science Diet, Good Boy, Wahl, Ezydog, and with the participation of the Alaskan Malamute Club of the Philippines.
