MANILA, Philippines -It was a paw-some day afternoon for dog sports enthusiasts as Pet Express recently held “Pups in Play: Dog Sports 101†at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds. Dog-lovers of all ages earlier registered online, not only to enjoy a dog’s day out, but also to learn about and play different dog sports dog agility and flyball.
Flyball is a dog sport wherein dog teams race against each other. They jump over hurdles to reach a box that releases a tennis ball, then carry this back to their handlers. Dog agility, on the other hand, involves handlers directing their dogs to an obstacle course in a race of time and accuracy.
Carl Michael de Leon, a renowned dog trainer and an active member of various dog sport training clubs such as ERK-9 and Cavite Mondio Ring Club, shared tips with participants on how to train your dogs to get into dog sports. He emphasized the fact that dogs should have basic obedience training before going into sports.
Organized by Pet Express, the specialty store for your dogs and cats needs, the event highlighted not only teaching demo on dog sport but also let the pet parents and their dogs to have a free-play on dog agility and flyball. Participants rewarded their dogs with treats served at the Kibbles and Bits booth.
