The dog race, humans included
MANILA, Philippines - Pet Express, the dog and cat shop, invites pet lovers, breed clubs, animal welfare groups, and fitness enthusiasts to join “Tailrunners: The Metro Dog Run 2010” today at 5 a.m. at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.
This joint project with MyPetChannel.tv and Royal Canin is set to be the biggest doggie marathon in Metro Manila. This fun run is open to dogs of all breeds and sizes, who are over one year old, in good health, and who have received proper vaccination.
The dogs and their humans can run in the 1.5 km, 3 km, and 5 km categories with celebrity tail-running ambassadors. These celebrities include sports anchor and Frisbee champ Reema Chanco with her Golden Retriever Sasha; acclaimed theater actor-director Audie Gemora and his adopted Asong Pinoy (Aspin) Skipper; commercial model and television host Hillary Isaac with her Siberian Husky Rufus; and Mondio Ring trainer and animal welfare advocate Carl de Leon with his American Bulldog Kovu.
During the event, participants will be treated to sideshows, fun and games, and canine sports exhibitions. Animal welfare groups like Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA), Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), and the Cavite Animal Welfare Society (SAWS Cavite) will also be participating to promote their advocacies. These include the more humane treatment of rescued and sheltered animals, working for a rabies-free country, urging more responsible pet ownership programs, and pushing for more pet-friendly places in the metro.
Simply register at Pet Express branches at SM Cubao and SM Hypermarket Makati, or register online at http://tailrunners.mypetchannel.tv.
