From beach to ‘biergarten’: Calatagan South Beach to stage raving Oktoberfest
MANILA, Philippines — We Filipinos love both the beach and the beer. The former is our go-to place for vacation and recreation, while the latter is our go-to drink to socialize and catch up. Needless to say, both entail fun with family and friends.
So just imagine what happens when these two loves come together in one affair?
Calatagan South Beach, or CaSoBé, will make this happen for Filipinos come October 12 as it will host Oktoberfest by the beach.
In partnership with German Club Manila, Calatagan South Beach will transform its Aquaria Water Park into an expansive biergarten for the most authentic experience—nothing less for Filipinos who have come to anticipate and participate at Oktoberfest every year.

At Calatagan South Beach’s biergarten, Filipinos can expect three things that will showcase time-honored German traditions:
1. German beer
At the heart of every Oktoberfest is—surprise—the beer! For October 12, CaSoBé will pour Weihenstephan Hefe Weissbier—just saying it out loud sounds authentic already and it is.
With its fine pour, white foam, smell of cloves and refreshing flavor, Weihenstephan is a full bodied drink with a smooth yeast taste. It is brewed according to centuries old tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.
This choice of German drink will be free-flowing at the Oktoberfest.
2. Bavarian feast
What’s German beer without a Bavarian feast? Get ready because CaSoBé will serve a whole spread of it, courtesy of guest chef Stefan Langenhan of New World Makati Hotel.
CaSoBé is home to Landco Pacific Corporation’s beach resorts and residences. It is known for its leisure amenities such as the Aquaria Water Park with five cove pools, a kiddie pool, and a giant 3-story high pool slide. Photo Release
Langenhan brings with him more than three decades of culinary experience, most of which were garnered in first-class cruise ships and Michelin-starred restaurants in Germany and more than 10 years in Bavaria.
At the Philippine Oktoberfest, he will highlight his artistic fusion of modern and traditional Bavarian cooking techniques and influences to create a truly Bavarian gastronomic feast.
3. Live music
To further hype everyone up with the Oktoberfest vibe, live music will be performed by Klaus Weih and the Bavarian Sound Express.
Authentic sounds from the live instrumental band, superb vocals from the lead singer and a diverse play list suiting all genres will play all throughout the night.
Michael Scheile, former president of German Club Manila and resident emcee of Oktoberfest for the past 10 years, will host the festivities.
The most authentic beer, food and music plus the best venue by the beach—this is the perfect recipe for a raving Oktoberfest and Filipinos can have it all only at Calatagan South Beach.
