The free sandwiches distributed during the National Breakfast Day brought light to their day and spread cheer among the evacuees, and lifted the spirits of the communities that were in need of an extra dose of positivity.

Starting life anew

Another key element of this year’s National Breakfast Day is the online video that featured inspiring stories of hope and new beginnings or “bagong simula” — part of an annual tradition that goes years back.

The video features the visit of television personality Atom Araullo, as he listened to the stories of the mothers’ everyday struggles and hopes — stories that expressed their desire to rebuild their lives.

“National Breakfast Day has always been about giving customers a memorable breakfast experience. This year, McDonald’s reached out to our fellow Filipinos who are most in need, following recent events that happened in their communities. We’re happy that we were able to extend the goodness of a McDonald’s breakfast to our fellow countrymen in Albay and Marawi,” said McDonalds Philippines president and CEO Kenneth Yang.
