MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines (UP) Lantern Parade is one of the biggest holiday celebrations in the country that draws thousands of spectators each year.

With the campus getting filled to the rafters every December, the spectacle has been used by UP students as a platform to show their creativity and sentiments.

For this year, the College of Fine Arts, which does not participate in the main contest, chose to pay homage to many great Filipino movie characters in their very own competition with the theme"Sining Sine."

As a testament to the talent of Filipinos in the field of arts and filmmaking, effigies of Facifica Falayfay, Sister Stella L. and Pedro Penduko traversed the academic oval to join the event.

This year's standouts include floats of "Ang Panday"(1st), "Asiong Salonga" (2nd) and "Juan Tamad" (3rd).
