Marc Jacobs goes down memory lane
MANILA, Philippines - Marc Jacobs has always been known as a fashion innovator and visionary who can spin an ordinary age-old idea into his own unique work of art. His shows make headline news every season and his collections appeal to countless sophisticated men and women around the globe. For his fall 2010 collection, Marc decided to unexpectedly work backwards as he went down memory lane and instead of trying to outshine his past distinguished extravaganzas, came up with a rhapsodic, toned-down collection, a sound choice for today’s economic situation. Gone are the tassels and funky embellishments of last season’s bag collection. The only embellishments we’ll be seeing this fall are in the form of classic push-lock closures and attached padlocks which we can see on editors’ favorites such as the Camille from the Garbo collection and the Janice from the Paradise collection. The simple, minimalistic shapes of the many purses highlight the luxurious materials with which these carry-alls were made. It’s no wonder this collection’s bags have already been spotted on A-List celebrities and requested by many top magazine editors. They too have become fans of the soft, buttery leather creations that Marc has in store for us this season.
