Raf Simons for Eastpak

MANILA, Philippines - Eastpak used to be known for their students backpacks. Not anymore, with its recent collaborations with directional designers such as Rick Owens, Eley Kishim-oto and Raf Simons.

You can say almost the same thing about Bratpack, the lifestyle store in Greenbelt 5, which isn’t just for college students anymore.

This month, Bratpack brings in the bags by Raf Simons for Eastpak, featuring oversized duffels, totes and backpacks in unusual shapes the Belgian designer is known for.

For Spring/Summer, bags come in leather, mesh and durable canvas in non-colors of grey and beige; while for Fall/Winter, wool bags with creased finish and patches come in black and grey.

This very limited collection, usually sold at Barneys New York, Dover Street Market in London and Lane Crawford Hong Kong, comes to Manila in very limited pieces with prices ranging from P8,000 to P22,000.

Following the success of this collection, hopefully Bratpack continues to bring in the edgier stuff for those of us who crave more than the usual.— Cecile Van Straten
