A Throwback to the ‘30s

The Café Society Fashion Show staged by the Friends for Cultural Center of the Philippines (FCCP) at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City was a surefire hit. Evoking the laissez-faire lifestyle of the café society of the 1930s, the fashion show featured the stunning creations of Jun Jun Cambe, a seasoned fashion designer who has been working for three and a half decades. The stunning members of FCCP walked the runway alongside professional models as they showcased Jun Jun’s marvelous pieces. The event, organized by the tireless FCCP president Nonie Basilio alongside Café Society Fashion Show committee director-in-charge Baby De Jesus and chairman Terry Tambunting, raised funds for the benefit of FCCP’s talented scholars in the performing and visual arts fields. Congratulations to the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines for another successful fashion show!

In keeping with its goal to bring culture closer to the masses, the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), under the leadership of president Nonie Basilio together with Outreach Committee director-in-charge Sol Tan Gatue and chairman Lit del Rosario, recently brought their cultural program to 800 students and government officials at the Provincial Auditorium of Malolos, Bulacan. The Bayanihan Dance Group, the Philippine Ballet Theatre and the Sayaw Foundation dancers performed traditional folk dances and modern ballet, while FCCP scholars singer Camille Tagadtad of Santa Isabel College, violinist Emlyn Ponce and pianist Danica Antazo of University of the Philippines regaled the audience with well-loved songs and instrumental renditions. But what excited the students most was Nonie Basilio’s announcement that the FCCP Scholarship Program is now accepting applicants once again. Congratulations to the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines for a successful event! For inquiries regarding FCCP’s scholarship program, call (02) 817-3905.
