Ain't no mountain high enough for Domiku and Evangeline Ugarte
There is nothing more beautiful than a romantic and fun-filled wedding. Lovely bride Evangeline Hayco, daughter of Edward Hayco and Eleanor Hayco and dashing groom Domiku Ugarte, son of David Ugarte and June Alegrado knew exactly how they wanted to celebrate their big day.
After an engagement of several years, their intimate church wedding took place at the Archbishops Palace with family and dear friends in attendance.
A week later the newlyweds once renewed their vows at Domiku’s family owned Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort with Fr. Sylvester Casaclang officiating. Over 400 guests joined in the celebration.
The venue was perfect, and the flower arrangements complemented the already breath-taking scenery. Domiku’s mom June, known for her flair, conceptualized everything and transformed the resort into a tropical paradise.
The bride, stunning in a Philip Tampus lace gown, disembarked from a catamaran to meet her husband Domiku was debonair in a Jun Escario beige suit.
Among the highlights of the night were the couple’s dance number and the messages from family members and friends which warmed the hearts of the young couple and the guests as well.
Soon after the sumptuous buffet dinner, dancing was non-stop for all the guests, young and older. Inspite of the drizzle, it was a memorable, fun, and very cozy affair, definetly a great way to enjoy the wedding day.
Domiku and Evangeline believe their love story was a matter of fate. Theyattended the same college, yet they hardly knew each other. Years went by and Vangie finished her hospitality degree at Les Roches in Switzerland while Domiku graduated in Enderun. They both came back to Cebu to work for their respective family businesses.
Their love story revolved around a love for endurance sports. Vangie’s first international triathlon was the 5150 held in Bohol, where Domiku was working at the time. A text from Vangie asking Domiku to cheer her on renewed their friendship. Domiku fell in love with Vangie and with triathlons, too.
Vangie and Domiku have competed in over 20 triathlons with a couple of podium finishes. They have also climbed the summit of several local mountains including Mr. Apo, Mr. Talinis and Mt. Halcon, the hardest mountain in the Philippines. They also climbed Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia.
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds will do the Mt. Everest Base Camp trek.
