“It’s going to be a fun-filled event for the whole family,” says Anne Baylon-Jara, marketing manager, Avida Land, during the press launch held recently at the Avida Showroom in Glorietta 2. “With Avida land and a little help from our partners, everything is ‘homepossible!’”
A homegrown lifestyle for everyone
Aside from the lifestyle talks and workshops, the event also puts the stoplight on two social enterprises — Rags2Riches and EchoStore — to help spread awareness and appreciation for homegrown artisanal products.
“The term ‘homegrown’ signifies Avida Land’s advocacy to inspire socially-responsible everyday living,” explains Baylon.
Avida Land’s partnership with Rags2Riches and EchoStore gives the public an opportunity to appreciate Filipino homegrown crafts by featuring multi-purpose furnishings — ottomans, floor pillows, throw pillows, even wall decor — skillfully produced by Rags2Riches artisans; and lifestyle coffee blends harvested by local farmers — both created with passion and designed for an inspired Avida living.
These “Homegrown Life + Style” artisanal crafts and coffee collection will also be showcased to the public during Avida’s “Homepossible: Homegrown” event. “Just like Avida Land, Rags2Riches and Echo Store have a common vision of enriching lives and inspiring communities,” explains Baylon. “As a real estate brand, Avida Land not only provides homes, but also an enriching lifestyle for our homeowners.” Avida Land supports these social enterprises by patronizing their products, which are featured in its Glorietta 2 showroom. We spotted Rags2Riches’ exclusively designed two pieces of multi-functional home furnishings are made from artisanal weaves and wooden pallets handcrafted by talented artisans. It could be used as a cushioned seat, a coffee table, and as an enclosed chest or an open-faced shelf. Its utilitarian design caters to every homeowner’s living space.
“There should be more value given to substance and sustainability in the things we use and buy for our homes,” shares Matt Pardinas, sales and marketing manager, Rags2Riches. “We are grateful for Avida for partnering with us for the second time and helping us spread local Filipino crafts.”
Through Rags2Riches’ cause, they are also empowering local communities by giving them a means of livelihood and income.
For its part, the EchoStore created a special blend inspired by Avida’s lifestyle offering.
“When Anne approached us if we could create an exclusive blend for Avida, we readily agreed. For one, just like coffee beans, Avida is all over the country. And so, in creating the Avida Lifestyle Blend — a balanced mix of sweet and citrusy Arabica and Robusta beans — we went from north to south to source the coffee beans,” enthuses Chit Juan, founder and owner of the EchoStore. Juan is also the president of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance Philippine Chapter.
The Avida Blend, together with other coffee blends such as Barako/Excelsa, Arabica/Robusta (from Cavite), Arabica with Kalinga Robusta, Sagada and Benguet blend, Davao Arabica (Bansalan) and Negros Robusta, and a Matutum (Cotabato) Arabica and Sulu Robusta, will be given to Avida clients and homeowners as welcome gifts and also serve as corporate giveaways.
“Avida wants to give social entrepreneurs a bigger platform to inform and educate society, beginning with our own live communities, currently at 64 with 26,857 homeowners, on the positive impact of buying locally and sustainably-made goods,” explains Tess Tatco, marketing head, Avida Land. “We want to integrate these sustainable products to the daily lives of homeowners, which is our way of helping improve the livelihood of coffee farms and local weavers.”
It’s time to appreciate local products and crafts and learn how you, too, can incorporate sustainable living through the “Homepossible: Homegrown” event happening today and tomorrow at the Glorietta Activity Center.
