Rotary Club Makati names new board
The Rotary Club of Makati (RCM) recently inducted its new board of directors at The Peninsula Manila. This is the club’s 51st year, which the new president David Ackerman dubs as the beginning of the next half century in its rich heritage. The guests all sported white ribbons, for one of the Ackerman’s main thrusts during his term is to fight lung cancer, the disease which took the life of his father and hero, Irving Ackerman. The new officers, directors and advisers were sworn in by district governor and DDC Land president and CEO Edna Sutter. Former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Sr. was the guest of honor. For his inaugural speech, Ackerman drew the club’s “road map” for service and fellowship this year.

Desigño Atelier: Grohe’s new home in Makati
Grohe, a global premium brand for bathrooms and kitchens, has opened another state-of-the-art showroom at Desigño Atelier in Wilcon IT Hub. Desigño Atelier is a Wilcon Depot specialty store that houses its most luxurious brands. The partnership with Grohe cements Desigño Atelier’s reputation as one of the most innovative shops in the market. Wilcon Depot is headed by William Belo as chairman with Rosemarie Ong as SEVP-COO. Dubbed “Masterworks,” the grand launch gathered respective “masters” from various fields to regale the audience with their performances — the Manila String Machine, the Philippine Ballet Theater, and world-class Filipina talent and Broadway star Lea Salonga who made the evening truly extraordinary. Guests were also treated to a live painting session by Jackie Manzano followed by a guided tour of the newly built showroom. Another highlight was the launch of the Grohe RainshowerSmartControl — 3D Showering, a device that lets the user personalize their shower time, blend several display patterns and adjust the water temperature to his or her own liking using its innovative push button technology.
