A bridal shower is a long-standing wedding tradition. This is one of the events leading to the big day that the bride leaves to family and friends to arrange.
The simpatica Alessandra Gavrielle “Alessa” Borromeo, future wife of Francis Michael Alvez VI, knew exactly what she wanted for the theme of her bridal shower — bedroom and bath that centered on her favorite pastel colors of beige and taupe.
The hosts were led by her affectionate mom, Lisette Garcia, loving titas y madrinas Marisse Serafica, Petite Garcia, Jeannette Zosa, Tess Cuenco and this writer, plus cousins Kirsten and Inger Cuenco, Delice, Berdynne, Brigette, Lallie Garcia and Kyni Ho.
Much sought-after event organizer Stanz Catalan effectively mobilized her efficient team to tap the island’s best providers that magically transformed the Granada Salon of the Casino Español de Cebu into a setting complete with a queen-sized bed that served as a depository for the numerous gifts.
Favorite florist Debbie Huang artistically clustered dozens of white roses for the table centerpiece.
Adhering to the suggested dress code, several invitees gamely came in their favorite pj’s and lounge wear. Alessa was radiant in her white satin slip with matching robe while her dotting mom Lisette opted for a colorful kimono.
Glamorous as ever Petite Garcia, Pinky Chang and Teresin Mendezona came in black and white ensembles while Mali Garcia was most comfortable in her favorite, well-worn salto de cama.
For starters guests enjoyed Bailey’s Irish Cream liqueur sipped over ice with cookies on the side and Mimosa, a cocktail composed of perfectly chilled champagne and cool citrus fruit juice that runs down your throat enticingly. As the party progressed, the ladies delighted on a variety of tea sandwiches, galantina, pasta with a selection of sauces, and ham.
As expected in every shower, there were lots of fun games initiated by June Rabin and in the spirit of camaraderie, guests let their hair down, some even willingly made fun of themselves.
For dessert Lani Garcia outdid herself with the sweet course station which was fabulously decorated with everything nice and fancy. The caramelized cream puffs and the three tiered fondant cake, which was embellished with royal icing roses, edible beads and pearls were perfect in texture, flavor and whatever else desserts entail.
Ace photographer Jim Ubalde captured the many happy moments with lot of laughter, fun and love.
