MANILA, Philippines – “Many young people want to show their individuality in what they wear. This includes their watches,” said Lennie Dionisio, managing director of Swap watches at the launch of Swap X Type at Tomato Store last Oct. 10. “One of the more poplular designs among the young today is Type — a kind of calligraphy. Our customers like to have watches that express who they are and how they feel — through Type sayings.”
Swap watches are a line of fun, customizable, interchangeable and colorful watches from Tomato and Tomato Time. The collaboration with the country’s top type artists and calligraphers for its latest digital campaign is called “Swap x Type.”
The Swap X Type watches were on exhibit at the Tomato flagship store in Glorietta 2. The event also featured a pen meet and gathering of all the Swap x Type artists.
Lennie added that the project aims to celebrate the beauty of handwritten letters and how they inspire us every day. Each of the featured artists’ design showcased their own hand written type or quote and described how it inspires them; and shared their inspiration to those who will purchase their Swap watch design. All 30 Swap x Type watch faces are available for purchase online at www.swapDIY.com and www.swapwatches.ph and at selected Tomato stores and Tomato Time kiosks.
The campaign was officially launched on social media last Sept. 26. Other events lined-up are collaboration workshops with the Swap X Type artists where participants get to take home their output on a Swap watch after the workshop. There will also be Swap X Type pop-ups at Common Room from Oct. 19 to 25.
Swap is a Filipino brand available in Tomato Stores and Tomato Time Kiosks and now available in Malaysia, Canada and USA.
