Family and friends recently came together to celebrate Nonoy Tirol’s 60th birthday at Casino Español de Cebu.
With lots of flair and style, the celebrant’s wife Merian Tirol, sons Blonx and Paulo made all the arrangements to ensure the party would be special and memorable.
Cebu’s foremost florist Pinky Chang decked the grand ballroom with swatches of leaves accented with lilies and mums, while the dance floor was strewn with red rose petals.
Nonoy is a successful businessman with many interests and to those who have had the opportunity to spend time with him, it is quite known that Nonoy never fails to greet friends with his warm smile and accommodating demeanor. Whenever help is needed, one can be sure he will extend a helping hand. It is no wonder his friends came in full force.
Among the invitees were his golf buddies Andrew Co, Carl Almario, Jonji Chiongbian, Jake Marques and Benjie Akol. Also taking part in the festivities were his long-time friends, industrialist Douglas Luym, hotelierJustin Uy, Cebu Country Club president Eduard Go, sportsman Johnny Siao, radiologist Edwin Medalle and Dr. Rico Gandionco.
Extending their birthday greetings were a company of tennis pals Antonio Araneta, Billy Deen, Bambi Castro, Alex Ngo and doctors Jojo Flordelisand Susie Ceniza.
Because Nonoy’s true passion is singing, and mind you he can carry a tune, he belted out a few songs that had everyone clamoring for more. His eldest son Blonx took to the stage and also joined his dad. Journalist, politician and close relative Risa Hontiveros, who flew in from Manila for the occasion, likewise dedicated a few Barbra Streisand songs to the celebrant.
Master baker Marissa Unchuan created an elegant three-tiered fondant, black and white cake which was in keeping with the party theme. Nonoy ceremoniously blew out the birthday candles surrounded by his loving family.
