TOWNS marks 40th year

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) celebrated its ruby anniversary recently at the Molave function room of Dusit Thani Manila. The event was a celebration of Filipino women’s unique strength and unmatched elegance.

TOWNS is a triennial award given to Filipino women, ages 21 to 45 years old, who have contributed to the shaping of the country’s present and future. Gracing the affair were the 1974 TOWNS recipients: retired senior Associate Justice Flerida Ruth Romero, former Philippine National Red Cross Governor Rosa Rosal, former Education Secretary Dr. Mona Valisno, professor emeritus Dr. Editha Tan, and former Senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani.  The women-leaders and guests were treated to a night of luxury and merriment courtesy of Dusit Thani Manila’s world-class hospitality team headed by general manager Alex Willats and Philippine Hoteliers, Inc. president and vice chair Evelyn Singson.  The latest addition to the highly regarded list of TOWNS awardees are lawyer Darlene Marie Berberabe, Noraida Adang Abdullah Karim, Ani Karina Brown, Karen Davila, Rachelle Gerodias, Gemma Narisma, Eleanor Pinugu, Ma. Amihan Ramolete, and Maricor Sorian
