Art for a great cause

A glamorous night of art and entertainment was organized by PLDT Home Fibr, one of two fixed broadband services of PLDT chaired by Manny V. Pangilinan.  The event was held in cooperation with The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) and Junior Chamber International Ortigas (JCI Ortigas) at an exclusive club in Makati City. The Charity Gala auctioned off masterpieces of 2006 TOYM awardee and world-class brass sculptor Michael Cacnio and award-winning sculptor Juan Sajid Imao as well as works of reputable Filipino artists Angel Cacnio, Jun Martinez, Menchu Arandilla, Al Perez, and Dr. Ton Raymundo. These works were the yields of that night’s on-the-spot painting session.  All benefits and proceeds from the charity gala were raised for Gabay Guro, an educational arm and a flagship project of the PLDT-SMART Foundation. Five masteral degree scholarships from the Philippine Women’s University were awarded to teachers that night.  Seen at the affair were Sen. JV Ejercito, Cavite Mayor Strike Revilla, former Philippine Sports Commission chairman Philip Ella Juico, glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, and previous TOYM awardees visual artist Alonzo Gabriel, former party-list representative Risa Hontiveros and chef and restaurateur Gene Gonzales.  The guests were serenaded by no less than the Concert King Martin Nievera, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, and Broadway sensation Jenine Desiderio

“We are very proud to be the broadband of choice among the topnotch citizens of our country. Tonight’s Charity Gala brought together outstanding local personalities to showcase Filipino excellence and talent. We feel honored to be part of such a world-class event,” said PLDT Home marketing head Gary Dujali.
