MANILA, Philippines - It was truly a night to remember, for all the best reasons! Dressed in their finest Filipiniana attire, Rotarians and their companions trooped to the Manila Hotel’s Centennial Hall to attend its charter anniversary celebration. At 95, the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) is only seven years younger than the historic hotel along Roxas Boulevard, which was also its meeting home for many, many years. International visiting clubs like the daughter club of RC Guam and the International Sister Club, RC Kowloon East, Hong Kong were also present at the affair. Almost all of the living past presidents of RCM, the first Rotary Club in all of Asia, convened for the symbolic lighting of the 95th anniversary candle. The guest of honor, Manila Mayor and former president Joseph Estrada, formally inducted the new board of directors, with RCM president-elect Frank Evaristo giving an inspirational inaugural address.
