SM’s Prism show extends summer in Cebu

For most people, the start of classes signifies the end of summer. But we also know that summer usually extends its visit until July. The Northwing at SM City Cebu recently presented a mini fashion show titled “Prism: 7 Shades of Summer” featuring Cebuano style-setters dressed in their favorite SM City Cebu brands.

Prism highlighted the seven colors of the rainbow that all deserve a space in anyone’s closet. Popular runway models shared the spotlight with local personalities who gamely strutted and showed off their individual styles in color. They included trendy siblings Kim and Karl Arcenas, Kathrynne and Kirk Cuizon, Ange and Marie Hussenet, Tomas and Marcel Pesch, Regina and Julie Urbina, and Patrice and Thiza Uytengsu.

 Delightful kids with lots of energy, Finn Aldeguer, Jack Booth, Sabi Fernan, Ariana Gonzalez, Jacob Hyatt, Tamara Jarque, Elizabeth Zoe Lee, and Amalia Ugarte made their modeling debut as well.

 For the finale, modish couples Charles and Barbie Calunod, Randy and Angel Pages, Carl Miko Santos and Antonette Ynoc, Taino and Judy Tenney, and Carlo and Stephanie Villarica took to the runway in an appealing assortment of vibrant outfits effectively supplemented by a few pastels. Fiery reds and oranges, tropical yellows and greens, blues in shades as varied as the summer sky, and tribal purple hues all took center stage.

It was overwhelmingly evident that the seasons designers addressed the desire for self expression, balance and the need to re-energize. The bold colors build upon these compelling needs with a palette that mixes dynamic bright with novel neutrals to create a harmonious balance. Some of the colors of the rainbow that may appeal to one’s taste and match your personality are the following:

Red is a color that mirrors intensity and power. It adds a seductive appeal to the clothing and creates an intrepid statement. Everything else needs to be kept simple so as to let the color stand out.

Green outfits of various shades appear rich and have a relaxed and casual look but can be made to appear sophisticated when paired with black.

Yellow is no longer gaudy. It brings an optimistic outlook of summer and works well as an over-all color scheme. This eye-popping color brightens the look, and gives an undiluted impact of a solid color, making a fashion statement.

Blue offers a mix of sophistication and style . You can combine the color with emerald for a fresh collegiate look and for an unexpected mix, pair it with the intense nectarine.
