Belo gives back
A beautiful woman with a golden heart is a fitting description for the gorgeous Belo Medical Group founder and medical director Dr. Vicki Belo as she joined the long list of celebrities who have extended help to the affected families of typhoon Yolanda. The generous Dr. Belo organized a garage sale entitled Belo Gives Back that featured some of her designer bags and shoes. Among the celebrities who also donated their belongings for the charity event were Christopher De Leon and wife Sandy Andolong, Jennylyn Mercado, Derek Ramsay, Toni Gonzaga, Grace Lee, Edu Manzano, Iza Calzado, Alodia Gosiengfiao, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. The Belo Medical Group CEO together with assistant medical director Dr. Philip Buñag were very hands-on during the affair as they helped the staff man the cashier, packed items bought by the shoppers and even talked to customers about the fabulous items they purchased. Proceeds from the garage sale and other fundraising activities of Dr. Belo were used to buy medicines and were sent to Leyte through Belo endorser Jennylyn Mercado. Old Belo tarpaulins and towels, clothes from Belo patients as well as emergency kits were sent to Tacloban City through mayor Alfred Romualdez and the TV program Salamat Dok. On the other hand, Dr. Belo and the clinic’s employees gave relief goods and financial aid to the Ormoc locals through Leyte 4th District Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez. Cash donation was also given by the Belo Medical Group to the Star’s Operation Damayan while old clothes and food were sent to the affected families in Capiz.
