SkyCable inspires spirits through free viewing stations
MANILA, Philippines - Immediately a week after Typhoon Yolanda struck the country, SkyCable started setting up free viewing stations in 10 regional areas to provide quality entertainment and relevant information for families in relief and evacuation centers including the one at the Villamor Air Base. With this, the typhoon victims were able to catch the much-awaited wedding of Maya and Sir Chief as the viewing stations featured Please Be Careful with My Heart, as well as fun and hilarious cartoons to fascinate the kids. Live updates and news announcements were also shared through the ANC channel, to keep the people informed on the latest developments.

More than 5,000 people also watched the free and live telecast of the Pacquiao-Rios fight at the Astrodome in Tacloban, while thousands more caught the match in various other viewing stations in the Capitol grounds and Redemptorist Church grounds in Tacloban, town plazas of Medellin, Cebu; Ormoc, Leyte; Estancia and Concepcion, Iloilo and in Guiuan, Samar. The commercial-free telecast courtesy of SkyCable brought smiles and generated hope in the hearts of the regions’ loyal Pacquiao fans.
SkyCable will continue to operate these free viewing stations for as long as they are needed by the affected communities. The company recognizes the importance of providing positive entertainment that will hopefully inspire their spirits, and constantly provide them with valuable information.
SkyCable also raised funds and in-kind donations from its international channel partners, which were turned over to ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya of the ABS-CBN Foundation. The proceeds of the SkyCable Pay-Per-View, “Tayo Na, Tulong Na, Tabang Na†benefit concert held on Nov. 16 at the Araneta Coliseum were also coursed through the same foundation.
