On retro fashion and skin aging

- Honey Jarque Loop - The Philippine Star

The Northwing at SM City, Cebu, recently presented “Glitterati, Generation Next,” a retro fashion show, which featured young Cebuano personalities on the runway.

As in previous years, Glitterati showcased pieces from best-loved clothing and accessories brands at SM City Cebu. They included Loalde, Plains and Prints, Espada, American Boulevard, Isis, Karimadon, Penshoppe, July, Closet Collection, XOXO, Maldita, Artwork, Levis and Mossimo.

What made this year’s event distinct was that it allowed the audience to travel through the history of fashion design and its many transformations starting from the delicate ‘50s, mod ‘60s, the boho ‘70s to the punk ‘80s and minimalist ‘90s. There was also a special segment dedicated to the biggest classic fashion staple, the denim.

The years of fashion have been filled with both traditional and controversial work. However, one thing that remains constant is its re-creation. Designers often revive an old-style into a very modern collection, continuously renewing itself in creative new ways.

Aging is an inevitable process that leaves a visible mark on the skin in a variety of ways — dryness, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles. Add to that the unfortunate existence of external aggressors that assault the skin’s natural vitality, and the result is damaged, tired-looking and uneven skin.

To talk about these factors and how to achieve a healthier glow, Elizabeth Arden and Zee Lifestyle teamed up to gather the beautiful women of Cebu for an afternoon of beauty and skincare discussion at Level Eight.

Guest speaker skincare expert Dr. Cecilia Bernad explained the causes of advanced skin aging and the right process to combat this — including the correct skincare routine and the products that are formulated with the right ingredients to achieve the best results.

Enter Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage, the latest line of anti-aging that includes a lineup of products specially concocted to target specific skin problems that contribute to skin aging.

The Prevage line has an impressive success rate — 97 percent of women who used the product showed an improvement in overall appearance after just 12 weeks, seeing the reduction of deep wrinkles and age spots, and better skin firmness and luminosity.

Guests at the event were treated to a special discounted price on the Prevage line and many of Elizabeth Arden’s products—including the cult favorite Eight-Hour Cream. At the end of the night, everyone went home with a special gift pack from Elizabeth Arden to start on the path to more beautiful skin.
