Sogetsu School of Ikebana holds exhibit
MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of its 24th anniversary the Sogetsu School will hold an exhibit with the theme “Filipino Artistry in Ikenaba.†The exhibit will explore the nuances of this modern style of Ikebana floral arrangement.
During the exhibit, Margot Perez, Evangeline Cheng along with visiting professors from Japan will hold workshops and lectures to promote the study of Sogetsu Ikebana.
The history of Sogetsu School goes back to 1927, when founder Sofu Teshigahara broke traditional ties with Ikebana by creating and developing a modern style, which allowed the arranger more freedom of expression and incorporating the use of unconventional materials in an arrangement.
The exhibit runs from Sept. 13 to 15 at Glorietta 4, ground floor lobby, Ayala Center, Makati City.
