Living in Anuva: At home with success
MANILA, Philippines - Uprooting one’s migrant family abroad to move back to the Philippines and to stake their future here entails a great deal of guts and smarts. In 2010, after having lived in the US for a number of years, the family of Annalyne Avendanio decided to have a Philippine homecoming for good. Being a businesswoman, she capitalized on her entrepreneurial risk-taking and acumen to seize opportunities in the Philippines and to build a network in the country anew.
It wasn’t easy finding a new residence in Metro Manila, says the businesswoman, given that her family had been used to a single-detached home with many rooms in the States. “Since we moved back here, we’ve been living in a condo which had been a big shock to my kids. Imagine, from a six-bedroom house, we all had to fit in a 42-sqm. condo,†she explains.
Avendanio wanted many nice things in a new family house, but especially space. However, in the metro, space has become such a rarity that it has driven up the cost of land in prime districts like Makati, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, and Quezon City. “We tried to find a bigger condo, and got an 84-sqm. unit, but we were still not satisfied because of the layout.â€
Finally, Avendanio came across SOC Land’s debut residential project, Anuva. The 2.4-hectare residential development is located in the south of Metro Manila, near Sucat Interchange in Muntinlupa, a few minutes from Makati and Alabang.
Anuva means “new beginning†in Russian, which is precisely what she and her family had been seeking when they moved back to the country. After carefully studying construction plans and exploring the property, she felt convinced that Anuva is the one—the home they had been looking for. The Avendanios decided to buy two penthouse units and two parking spaces in the community.
The condominium project offers square-shaped units and a different setup compared to what other developments are offering for the mid-market segment. The square-configured units are SOC Land’s answer to competitors’ rectangular type units, which have deep and narrow living areas. As a result, ordinary store-bought furniture are difficult to be accommodated, rendering the space quite difficult to decorate and practically unlivable.
Another unique aspect of the units at Anuva is the positioning of the kitchen, which is similar to single-detached homes — the kitchen is not placed beside the front door so residents and their guests won’t be welcomed by kitchen odors upon entering the unit. All living quarters in Anuva also have their own laundry areas, a detail that is missing in most condo offerings today.
Anuva’s amenitized open spaces come to about 1.8 hectares, which is 80 percent of the entire development — a generous allocation that remains unmatched by even big-name developers. Residents can recharge by engaging in a host of recreational activities in the community at their own pace everyday, with wellness features and facilities that include themed gardens and meditation areas, jogging and biking lanes, basketball court, walk parks, landscaped ponds, and the country’s first meandering lazy river inside a residential community. The child-friendly perimeter road concept is also one of the highlights of the development because it allows children to walk to the pool or the playground without encountering oncoming cars since no road intersects the full length of the amenities area.
A person who hopes to make it big in life and in business, or has reached success needs more than just a structure with four walls and a roof. The ideal home is a safe place for the family to move around in, nurture big dreams, and stop and smell the roses. “Finally, I found Anuva, my new home,†says Avendanio. “Here, I have everything that I want in condo living.â€
