Baile and Shangri-La present ‘O, Ilaw’ Christmas exhibit

MANILA, Philippines - The Baile Foundation and Shangri-La Plaza Corporation mount an annual Christmas exhibit at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. The exhibit titled “O, Ilaw!” features the Philippine parol as interpreted by known local artists, designers and celebrities. 

The exhibit opens on Nov. 22, Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., with the Helena Z. Benitez as guest of honor.  A short program will be followed by cocktails with a Jewelmer pearl piece to be raffled off to those who will buy any of the art works on display.

Baile Foundation is a non-profit organization of former members of the internationally acclaimed Bayanihan National Dance Company.  The Foundation responds to the increasing need for education through the arts, providing scholarships in arts studies and arts administration and also gives grants to individuals engaged in dance research.  Close to 30 star-studded participants have contributed their talents and time to prepare their designs for the exhibit.

Among the participating artists are glass sculptors Ramon Orlina and Impy Pilapil, metal sculptors Joe Datuin and Ferdinand Cacnio, interior designers Leo Almeria, Manny Castro, Marlo De Vera, artists Glenn Mamaril of Pinto Museum, PIID president architect Ogie Caringal, architect Wendy Fernando Regalado, lighting designer Voltaire De Jesus, Robert Kraut of Kraut Art Glass,  millinery designer Malu Laurena, Silvana Diaz of Galeria Duemila and Ilac Diaz, urban planner, fashion designers Randy Ortiz and Nono Palmos, flower stylist Toni Serrano Parsons, furniture designer and gourmet chef Claude Tayag, interior and furniture designer Joey Yupangco and the young designer Cheska DP Dimalanta, a senior high school student from St. Paul’s College.  From the Bayanihan, there are the guru of interior design and former Baile trustee Edith Oliveros, fabric designer Len Cabili, and Ballet Philippines artistic director emeritus Alice Reyes of Chrysara Designs.  ATD (All Together in Dignity) FourthWorld Movement and Bayan Fund are two organizations that will showcase their craft. TV personalities Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino complete the cast.

The exhibit is co-chaired by Johnny Hubilla, Maribel Carag Dario and Terry Silayan Rosales.
