Tetra Pak teaches easy steps in recycling
MANILA, Philippines - Love for Mother Nature reigned on April 21 and 22 as Tetra Pak Philippines, eco-lovers and other environmentally conscious organizations gathered at Nuvali Sta. Rosa, Laguna for a Green Market to celebrate Earth Day 2012. Known for their innovative food and beverage packaging solutions, Tetra Pak Philippines, Inc. has yet again taken a step forward in their efforts of protecting the environment by encouraging families to engage in eco-friendly activities such as recycling.
In line with the company’s commitment to sustainability and caring for the environment, Tetra Pak, which gives high importance on the proper recycling of Tetra Pak cartons, hosted various activities at the Green Market that highlighted environmental awareness and encouraged consumers to recycle.
Tetra Pak showcased an informative and interactive booth exhibit that featured various recycled products made from Tetra Pak cartons such as notebooks and paper bags, which was open for the public to explore. Children and the young at heart were encouraged to participate in a roulette game which featured the three easy steps to prepare used Tetra Pak cartons for recycling. Presented in a more catchy and easy to remember manner, the three easy steps were conveniently named as Flip, Flap and Flat. First is to remove the drinking straw before recycling and to Flip open the top side flaps of the Tetra Pak carton. Second, is to flip open the bottom Flap or simply open the bottom flaps of the carton. Last step is Flat and this is done by flattening the Tetra Pak carton and placing it in the Tetra Pak recycling bin. With these three easy steps on recycling of Tetra Pak cartons, recycling can easily be part of one’s daily routine.
Participating children also got the chance to create their own boats using empty and clean Tetra Pak cartons. Creativity was seen as the participants gave their best in order to make boats made out of innovative Tetra Pak cartons. Winners of the boat making competition were rewarded as they received gift bags from Tetra Pak containing various ready-to-drink milk in Tetra Pak cartons and shopping certificates.
Tetra Pak remains true to its motto, “Protects what’s good,” as it continues to educate consumers on the importance of recycling and caring for the environment. With the two-day event, Tetra Pak was able to inform people on the recycling of Tetra Pak cartons and encourage them to start their recycling habit at home.
