Celebrating moms with music and arts at The Shang
MANILA, Philippines - Shangri-La Plaza has lined up Mother’s Day events and activities at the mall’s Grand Atrium, Level 2.
“Love Songs on Keyboard” serenades mothers and their families, shoppers and mall-goers on May 26, 5 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m., with piano performances and heartwarming renditions of love songs that will surely touch every music-lover’s soul.
A world-class show takes the stage today at 5 p.m. with Tria Bascon’s “Wanderlust” album launch with special guests The Company and Aquarela. Born into a musical family, Bascon’s early musical influences were renowned international vocalists of jazz, standards and pop. Today, she is a successful artist, whose innate talent has taken her to virtually every continent of the world, even having performed in far-reaching places in the South Pacific — including French Polynesia, Fiji Islands and The Kingdom of Tonga.
Skarlet showcases her distinct musical stylings in “Music & Lyrics” tomorrow, 7 p.m.; while on May 25, 3 p.m., the Suzuki Music Kids present noteworthy numbers in the “Sounds of Summer Concert.”
Experience martial art the Brazilian way on May 19, 7 p.m. with Brazilian Capoeira Experiencia: Brazilian Sport, Dance & Arts, featuring a free capoeira introduction workshop and lessons on music & samba fundamentals by Sinha Bahia de Capoeira. Creatively fusing together elements of dance and music, capoeira is a popular fitness activity undertaken by men and women alike.
Take Mom out on a movie date with The Shang’s series of film events starting with the Asia as the Society Film Festival from May 17 to 21 (with screenings at 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.) and “A Date with Italian Cinema @ the Shang” features the film La Stanza Del Figlio on May 24 (with screenings at 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 8 p..m), at the Shang Cineplex, Level 6.
