22 designs that rocked Ambiente
MANILA, Philippines - Every year, Ambiente holds the competition Design Plus, which selects products that have the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality. This year, an international jury selected 22 products created by 18 different companies from 10 countries.
The winners were presented with the Design Plus Award at Ambiente last month. How did the jury decide? They followed the strict criteria of design, usability, and materials employed.
Winning familiar brands include Alessi, Kristal, Menu, PA Design, Rosenthal and Zwiesel.
Majority of the consumer products come from the tableware and kitchen sectors and include elegant porcelain to a basic eggbeater.
“The products that bear the Design Plus seal are genuine eye catchers for everything from cooking to dining to simply relaxing and feeling good,” says Ambiente vice president Nicolette Naumann. “The winning products are distinguished by excellent handling, a special feature or innovative technology, and intelligently combine aesthetics qualities with functionality, which makes design for the home a real pleasure.”
According to Wilbert Novero, Messe Frankfurt sales partner, the Philippines has won in Design Plus in the past. This year, though, winning companies are from Spain, Germany, China, Japan, Denmark, Italy, and France.
The winning 22 products were selected from 490 entries submitted by 175 companies from 28 countries. Tough competition, but in the end, great design always stands apart from the crowd.
