A one-of-a-kind game of golf
More than 100 loyal participants had a fantastic time at the 12th Invitational Golf Tournament of the CWC Group of Companies held recently at The Legends Course of the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Cavite. One of Asia’s largest distributors of high-end furniture from Germany and France, the CWC Group has been organizing this annual one-of-a-kind golf play-off for its loyal clients, talented designers, suppliers and friends. At the awarding ceremonies (hosted by yours truly), the dynamic CWC Group president Ruben Tan and energetic vice president Fred Yuson handed the trophies designed by multi-talented artist Claude Tayag to the overall champion Raymond Lacdao and other category winners. Also at stake were two avant-garde ergonomically-designed chairs from ultra-modern Herman Miller — an Aeron chair won by Citibank’s Marthy Marasigan and a SAYL chair won by Miguel Gumila.
Promising beginnings
Congratulations to the sassy and smart, Alexandra “Alex” Maceda who recently graduated from Dartmouth College, an Ivy League college in Hanover, New Hampshire. Proud parents Lyra and Manny Maceda as well as grandparents Josie and Ernest Rufino and Marichu Maceda, who were all in attendance, couldn’t be happier for her.
Highlighting the ceremony was the speech by commencement speaker Conan O’Brien and the awarding of honorary doctorate to former president George Bush.
Spain honors Rizal
The recent celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of our National Hero Jose Rizal was also observed in Spain with an exhibit of paintings by young Filipino artists for the Philippine Embassy in Spain headed by Ambassador Carlos Salinas. Organized by Outlooke Pointe Foundation in collaboration with Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc., the art show was held at Hotel Intercontinental Madrid, with Senator Edgardo Angara and wife Gloria as guests of honor.
