DMCI Homes holds 1st inter-community sportsfest
MANILA, Philippines - At the core of every DMCI Homes residential project is a community that thrives not only on the convenience of a beautiful home, but also on the goodwill and camaraderie that emanates within the neighborhood.
To foster this kind of relationship, much work and effort has been given in the construction of common areas such as the exclusive clubhouse, pool areas, playing courts and landscaped gardens so that these places can be used as a social arena where neighbors can get to know each other and establish lasting friendships.
DMCI Homes works beyond the comforts of each project’s gated environment in their bid to foster closer community ties through its first Inter-Community Summer Sportsfest. Over 400 residents and guests participated in the event, which not only recognized and highlighted community talents and skills in the field of sports, but also promoted camaraderie, sportsmanship, and team spirit among homeowners.
Held at the Celebrity Sports Plaza in Quezon City, the sportsfest, which will run until the first week of June, was conceptualized not only to help build homes, but help build lives as well. The event is also aimed at developing one’s competitive character and the determination to excel while having fun, as well as recognizing the value of fair play.
“The company hopes to make them feel part of a bigger group where everyone has his own importance, and the whole neighborhood can show their support. The activity was launched so the younger residents can learn and develop not only skills but more importantly, positive values through home and community experiences,” says DMCI Homes president Alfredo R. Austria.
The junior basketball league is a good opportunity and venue for them to start to learn and appreciate the value of sports, to understand healthy and fun competition, and have a complete community life experience.
More importantly, the event signals the beginning of the homeowners’ involvement and dedication to any community activities, whether initiated by DMCI Homes or by their own communities or property management group. It is part of a big plan to participate proactively in future activities and make their own mark in community development.
The participants were divided into teams representing various communities. These were: East Raya Garden, Magnolia Place, Tivoli Garden Residences, East Ortigas Mansions, Mayfield Park Residences, The Manors at Celebrity Place, Dansalan Gardens, Hampstead Gardens, Riverfront Residences, Bonifacio Heights, Vista De Lago, Ohana Place, Palm Grove, Raya Garden Condominiums, Royal Palm Residences, Rosewood Pointe, Cypress Towers, Mahogany Place Phase 1-2, and Morning Sun/Rainbow Ridge/Spring Lane.
Highlights of the event included the passing and lighting of the symbolic torch to signal the start of the sportsfest, the pledge of athletes headed by Carlo Contis, homeowner/basketball player from Tivoli Garden Residences, and the recognition and awarding of Ms. DMCI Homes Sportsfest 2011 to Anita Cuartero, a resident of Magnolia Place in Quezon City.
