Genvi brings Cebuano living to new heights
Manila, Philippines - Armed with a firm grasp and progressive vision for Cebuano living, homegrown real estate developer Genvi Development Corporation marks a milestone with Monterrazas de Cebu.
The largest contiguous mountain property located at the heart of Cebu City, Monterrazas de Cebu is an integrated master-planned community an urban township with varied residential, institutional and commercial clusters. Offering magnificent views of Cebu, Mactan and Bohol from over 300 meters above sea level, the development is envisioned to be the premier residential community of the Queen City.
Named after the late Doña Genoveva Villalon, matriarch of the Villalon clan, Genvi was established in 1974 to consolidate part of the family’s urban real estate holdings. However, it was only in 2006 that Genvi made its first major foray into property development with Monterrazas de Cebu.
The company’s philosophy, according to Genvi president Augusto Villalon, is centered on the principle “thinking locally, acting globally.”
“Genvi sees that maintaining our cherished Cebuano lifestyle traditions is the touchstone to providing the right urban setting to bring those same traditions to a global level,” he says.
Having been immersed in Cebu’s signature laid-back lifestyle for years, Genvi ensured that Monterrazas de Cebu offers its authenticity without being left behind in terms of technology and innovation. “The goal is to keep the traditional while simultaneously upgrading to global standards,” Villalon states. “To do this, we make use of the latest technology and design breakthroughs that are both people and environment-friendly.”
The Peaks and North Ridge the first two phases of the development have already been completed, with third phase North Vale scheduled for launching this month. Each cluster will feature superior amenities including a clubhouse, infinity pool, gazebos, parks and playgrounds, and facilities such as underground utilities, a fully-equipped security system and Cebu’s very first flood control system.
Executive vice president Margarita Villalon reveals that Monterrazas de Cebu is an actualization of a vision once held by her grandmother Doña Genoveva. “I remember her constantly saying to us, as her arm would sweep across the vista, ‘One day Cebu is going to grow in that direction. And we’re going to be there,’” she relates. “Looking back, it was really her tenacity that pieced together the parcels that we are developing now as Monterrazas de Cebu. This project is our way of keeping her vision alive.”
With this in mind, Genvi is all set out to continue promoting the city’s unique heritage and culture, beginning with Monterrazas de Cebu. Says Villalon, “We at Genvi continue to look outward at different real estate developments, to ensure that we give all our buyers, suppliers, and those who we come in contact with, a development standard that is the best in global practices while keeping true to the Cebuano soul and heritage.”
She concludes, “We have the responsibility to do right by our grandmother’s vision and leave Monterrazas de Cebu as a legacy not only of her, but of our entire family to Cebu. The city has been extremely good to us, and it is fitting that we use this property to give back to Cebu something we can all be proud of.”
