Baile goes Broadway at the Shang
MANILA, Philippines - Curtains went up recently at the Shangri-La Plaza with “Baile Goes Broadway @ The Shang,” a unique display of tablescapes and table settings inspired by Broadway hits from the ‘50s and ‘60s, created by well-known artists, fashion designers, interior designers, media and social luminaries. The exhibit is at the 3rd level of Shangri-La Mall and runs until Nov. 29.
The event brought together these artists and their creative energies in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Baile Foundation in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Bayanihan’s successful opening on Broadway’s Winter Garden Theater.
The exhibit/sale is a fundraising project of Baile Foundation composed of pioneering Bayanihan members who share the common vision of providing opportunities to promising choreographers and dancers to hone their craft. Baile Foundation is a non-profit organization tasked with preserving and cultivating Philippine folk dance and traditions. It is also Baile’s way of fusing art and traditions into exhibits.
Baile’s board of trustees is led by Carmen de Jesus Tiglao, chair and president; Rosky Balahadia Hilado, vice president; Lina Inigo Winebrenner, secretary; Lolita Adea Valdez, treasurer; and trustees Maribel Carag Dario, Johnny Hubilla, Carlo Hubilla, Miriam Odejar Palma, Terry Silayan Rosales, Olivia Montecillo Villafuerte and Nina Lim Yuson.
