Greenbelt 5 goes beyond designs

-

MANILA, Philippines - The innovative and imaginative Filipino artist has found a home in Greenbelt 5, the much-awaited finale to the re-development scheme of the Greenbelt area.

Putting an emphasis on the home, Greenbelt 5, in partnership with Ayala Museum, presented “Beyond Designs,” a design talk series, featuring numerous Filipino trailblazers in interior design and architecture.

Well-known Filipino interior designers and architects were asked to curate their own exhibits using one-of-a-kind furnishing pieces from the different shop merchants that dot the third floor of Greenbelt 5 such as Ito Kish, Designs Ligna, Aguas Domicillo, Cereo, and many more. Each inspired, modern furnishings utilizes indigenous materials found only in the Philippines, and high-quality imported materials that ultimately celebrate the Filipinos’ love of home and family, and their pioneering talent in the field of interior design and architecture.

P. Burgos and Taft Avenue were lined with magnificent rain trees and fire trees.

Architect Dan Lichauco, managing partner of Archion Architects, was the featured speaker during the opening.

Lichauco earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Santo Tomas, his first two master’s degrees in architecture and planning at the University of Michigan, and a third from the University of Notre Dame in classical architecture. A former apprentice under the esteemed firm Leandro V. Locsin and Associates, then a partner of Bobby Mañosa, he went on to become one of the top architects in the country with projects like Medical City Hospital, Asian Hospital Tower 2, Nickel Asia Corporation Tower, and the soon to rise 500-bed Manila-GT Medical Center. Despite these big projects, he continues to design houses, which is his true calling. Lichauco is also an advocate of green living with two LEED-registered buildings under his belt. Architect Lichauco has selected home furnishings from Greenbelt 5 merchants for a series of themed exhibitions held recently.

The Home Section (third floor) of Greenbelt 5 features various furniture shops that can transform your house into a home. These are Illuminati, Hans Bruman Gallery, Prizmic & Brill, Designs Ligna, Domicillo, Hive, Sason Shop, Borders, Miguel Aguas, Ito Kish, Dexterton Home Boutique, Home Edition, Grassroots, Sifra, Weft Lifestyle Co., Altro Mondo, Gardino Picanti, Weaves Of Asia, Interiors, Dexterton Lifestyle Store, Dexterton Artimide Kartell, Simmons, Dexterton (Former Gadgettree), Viro Casa, And Hafele.
