Winner Jumalon at Pinto Art Gallery
MANILA, Philippines - Winner Jumalon mounts, “A Part”, which opens tomorrow, 3 p.m., at Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo.
The artist presents “an expanse of heads and things painted on back-to-back portraits and still lives entirely made of resin.” Winner Jumalon takes his portraits out of the gallery to the outdoors — transferring the faces from canvas to sturdy resin, using hard-wearing automotive paint instead of oil or acrylic. Doing thus, the artist fortifies these portraits and still lives, usually fragile against the elements, to render high, exclusive art as public and finally, quite accessible.
The show is curated by Ruel Caasi.
