TGI Friday's goes from vintage to modern style
MANILA, Philippines - TGI Friday’s on Tomas Morato, a favorite dining destination in Quezon City for the last 10 years, welcomes guests with a fresh, new look after a recent refurbishment.
The 180-seat restaurant’s updated look is evident right from the façade and all the way into the interiors. A deeper shade of red was used on taller and more graphic exterior awnings and a tower entry was added along with a more upbeat signage.
The restaurant did away with the red-and-white stripe tablecloths, some portions of the flooring and the old-style bentwood chairs. In their places are spanking wooden dining tables and more spacious booth seating. Modern, sleek droplights took the place of Tiffany lamps, lending an airy and brighter feel to the dining area.
The eclectic memorabilia concept is still there, only this time the accents have moved forward a few decades — from vintage Americana to a more modern, classic style. The most striking change in the overall interiors is the shift from the fabled Friday’s memorabilia of the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s to the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. The interiors now display icons such as Bruce Lee, Wonder Woman, E.T., Ghostbusters and even the cast of Beverly Hills 9210. Aside from a smoking lounge enclosed in glass, an accent spot beside the newly renovated bar, called “Album Wall,” highlights musical greats from Elvis Presley to Michael Jackson.
