The unfolding of a new future

It was a spectacular welcome to the promising future of Filipino culture and heritage as the Lopez Memorial Museum and Library (LMM) recently marked its 50th anniversary with an inspiring, artistic celebration at the Rockwell Tent. The board of trustees of the Eugenio Lopez Foundation, Inc. led by visionary chairman Oscar Lopez, indefatigable president Manuel Lopez and executive director Cedie Lopez-Vargas welcomed more than 400 guests from various companies and institutions whose support of LMM’s programs has aided in their success and longevity. During the event, guests were treated to the book launching of Unfolding Half a Century: “The Lopez Memorial Museum and Library,” and the multi-sensory exhibit dubbed “Threads: The Museum as Site for the Weaving of Tales” featuring the magnificent works of today’s remarkable artists.

Another grand year

In celebration of Dr. Remedios “Meding” Suntay’s birthday, her walking group from Manila gathered at the Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel to dine and have fun at the Red Sky Restaurant in Bangkok. A gorgeous orchid table centerpiece made the event more wonderful. Enjoying the festivity are (seated, from left) Offie Recto, the beautiful celebrator Meding Suntay, Buda Samson, (standing, from left) Peachy Maramba, Betty Rodriguez, Nena Villanueva, Lita Lilles, Menchu Bautista and Lita Banson. To Meding, may you have more lovely years to come!

A term to remember

To show appreciation for the participation of the members and officers of the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP), the lovely Minerva Tanseco threw a “graduation” party at the end of her term as president of FCCP. Held before the annual FCCP elections, the gathering was made more exciting with the presence of the Philippines’ patroness of the arts, Imelda Marcos.
